Sevendust will launch their Dead/Seven U.S. tour with Theory of a Deadman Friday in Duluth, Minnesota. As Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose tells ABC Audio, he's hoping to convert some new fans during the run.
"[Our agent] has these ideas to put together tours that some people might go 'Hmm' to," Rose says. "The crossover effect, I think, is what we're looking forward to."
"We're always looking to try to play in front of people that might not have seen us before or maybe thought, 'Uh, I don't know about those guys,'" Rose continues. "Then hopefully we can catch 'em."
While they may be 15 albums and over 30 years into their career, the Sevendust members still have that hunger to prove themselves, which they rediscovered during a recent trip to Europe.
"We were able to go over there and play in front of a bunch of people that didn't know us," Rose says. "To watch that thing move from people looking at you, like, 'What is this?' and then three songs in I'm looking over at my tech going, 'Got 'em,' and it's like, 'Oh, damn! This feels like it did in 1997.' So, whenever you get those opportunities you jump at those."
For those already among the Sevendust heads, you can expect to hear songs from throughout the band's career, as well as tracks from their new album, One, which dropped in May.
"I think we were playing three new ones on the last run, which is super lofty for us," Rose says. "I don't even remember us ever doing that since maybe [2003's] Seasons [album]."
