PROUD to be the only station in South Jersey playing NEW ROCK...and all the rock songs you already love!

On Air

Matt Murray

Matt Murray is your morning man and has been entertaining audience's for over 25 years! He usually uses deodorant and almost always will hold open the door at Wawa. He has failed at many things (only made it to double A as a baseball player, and was rejected by many ladies) but still he carries on! Be sure to join him Mon-Fri 6-10am and hear stories of how he worked at Action Park, going on Mountain Biking adventures, and losing at video games. And of course playing the best rock in South Jersey and perhaps the world! Oh one more thing...he moonlights as a Captain (it really doesn't make sense) P.S. this was not written by Matt Murray (actually it was)

Lauren

Hi there! I’m Lauren, your weekend DJ here at 103.7 WMGM Rocks. I’m born and raised in South Jersey and a college graduate from Stockton University. I started at WMGM as an intern in 2015, shortly after hired as a promotions assistant, and then been on the air since New Year’s Eve 2016! What an awesome way to end and start every year!

Music means everything to me and to be able to work in it is even better. When I’m not on air, I love discovering new music, trying different craft beers, listening to audiobooks, looking at the moon (yeah I’m one of those weird moon child people), singing, laughing, dancing around my house, adventuring, and of course Chinese food. I’m always myself and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

You can hear me on the airwaves every Saturday & Sunday 3-8pm.

Connect with me on social media! I’m a millennial so I got it all:

Full Metal Jackie

Full Metal Jackie began her radio career as a DJ at WSOU Pirate Radio, Seton Hall University’s legendary metal station. Instantly addicted to the excitement of life behind the mic, she graduated Pirate Radio (and Seton Hall), to become an on-air personality at WHTG (Neptune, NJ), and later at WDHA (Dover NJ). Not content to limit her exposure to New Jersey, Jackie set her sights on bigger markets (and warmer climates!), making her way west to California’s gold coast. Establishing herself in Los Angeles, she learned the business side of radio and promotions while working for one of the music industry’s largest management companies. After a short stint as on-air host at San Diego’s 94.9 KBZT, Jackie landed the opportunity she had been working toward since her early WSOU days: host and producer of her own (and L.A.’s only) commercial heavy metal radio show, CHAOS on Indie 103.1. Working alongside other Indie 103.1 hosts such as Steve Jones (of the Sex Pistols), Henry Rollins and Dave Navarro, Jackie quickly brought The FULL METAL JACKIE RADIO SHOW to the station’s forefront. Today she hosts WHIPLASH, The only Hard Rock and Metal Show on the radio in Los Angeles airing on the legendary 95.5 KLOS. She is the Author of FULL METAL JACKIE CERTIFIED: THE 50 MOST INFLUENTIAL METAL SONGS OF THE 80s. Today - The FULL METAL JACKIE RADIO SHOW can be heard on rock stations around the Country! Check me out at Fullmetaljackieradio.com or my socials!

Rich Russo

A true music aficionado and collector, Rich Russo boasts a collection of vinyl and CDs estimated to have reached an astonishing 100,000 pieces.

Rich says, “Springsteen’s line from No Surrender says it best, ‘We learned more from a 3 minute record than we ever did in school.’”

“Music is the most personal and yet one of the most shared experiences you can have. My listeners share my passion for music and although we may not always have the same musical tastes they trust me to introduce them to artists who are relevant and to music that deserves to be heard.”

A lifelong Jersey resident, Russo grew up listening to NY and NJ radio and remembers how the DJs were almost as big as the music they played. Rich believes that DJs today need an identity and must go beyond the pressures of playing only what research dictates or what the record labels are pitching.

Rich is a hard-core fan of live music and is committed to staying on the cutting edge of the music scene. He spends a few nights each week attending live concerts by emerging and established artists. He has seen his friends in the E Street Band play close to 400 times and has occupied a seat at a Pearl Jam concert more than 50 times.
“Part of, if not all of, the woes of radio, and especially rock radio, is the formula it’s become. Focus groups and call out hooks – it’s ridiculous – a great song is a great song regardless of it’s source. Despite the digital outlets now and “genome selection crap” the audience is hungry and wants the DJ to help them discover their music choices. That’s what DJ’s do. I want to turn you on to cool things regardless of genre. Just the other day, I was going through a box of records I had bought years ago and there were a bunch of radio station copies and the coolest thing was that most of them had a sticker or something on it, next to each song title with the air staff’s opinion of each song, not just the hit, but every song. I highly doubt that happens now.”

‘Anything Anything’ goes deep and finds great new music for its listeners. Rich has the kind of creative freedom that is unrivaled in major market radio today. Working without the constraints of a playlist, Rich has 100% control of the music he plays and has successfully developed a free form show that is gutsy and raw. Russo is admired for being highly opinionated and not afraid to share his thoughts. As you listen to his show every week, you’ll know what his feelings are towards musical trends, events and life in general. It all ties in to Rich Russo’s philosophy about music being a very shared experience.
