Everyone has feelings about Stan Lee’s passing.
The iconic 95-year-old Marvel founder died Monday and celebrities and fans took to social media to thank him for improving their lives and helping to create a socially progressive universe of heroes from every racial and ethnic background, one that featured men and women, and one that didn’t focus on sexual orientation.
But as the tributes poured in, not everyone was pleased. Armie Hammer lashed out at celebs who posted shots of themselves with Lee.
"So touched by all of the celebrities posting pictures of themselves with Stan Lee... no better way to commemorate an absolute legend than putting up a picture of yourself," the Call Me By Your Name star tweeted on Monday.
"They... worked with him...?" a reporter responded. "Me.... too...?" Hammer, who voiced a character in Lee’s Mighty 7 said.
"Maybe they're just remembering how it felt to meet him with those photos," another fan opined on Twitter. "That's how I would feel. I never got the chance."
"If Stan impacted your life (ie. All of our lives) with his work, post his work that touched you the most," Hammer wrote back. "Posting a selfie makes his death about you and how cool you felt taking a picture with him."
When someone asked, "What else u supposed to do when someone dies armie," he responded, "If your answer is 'post a selfie' then I think we need a cultural revamp across the board."
As three wildfires continue to blaze uncontrollably in California, victims of the fires are sharing horrifying images of the destruction. So far, the fires have killed at least 42 people, with hundreds more missing.
Several celebrities have been affected as well.
Liam Hemsworth shared an image of what’s left of the home he shared with fiancée Miley Cyrus.
"It’s been a heartbreaking few days. This is what’s left of my house. Love," he began a caption accompanying an image of their burnt out walls, with the charred remains of the letters "L-O-V-E" that once decorated the space.
The 28-year-old Thor star continues: "Many people in Malibu and surrounding areas in California have lost their homes also and my heart goes out to everyone who was affected by these fires. I spent the day in Malibu yesterday and it was amazing to see the community pulling together to help each other out in any way they can. Malibu is a strong community and this event is only going to make it stronger."
He also urged people to donate to the rebuilding effort, and thanked firefighters.
The famous lovebirds donated $500,000 themselves to The Malibu Foundation through Cyrus' charity, Happy Hippie, a representative said.
GERARD BUTLER OTHERS
Gerard Butler’s home was also severely burnt. He spoke to TMZ after surveying the damage, choking up: "I feel bad. … There are so many communities here, trailer parks and suburban working-class houses that are completely destroyed, and people have lost everything."
Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Alyssa Milano and Lady Gaga were among those evacuated. The homes of Neil Young, Camille Grammer, Robin Thicke and Scott Derrickson were destroyed.
HUGH JACKMAN DIDN’T KNOW WOLVERINES WERE REAL: You learn something new every day. Hugh Jackman, for one, recently learned that wolverines are actual animals, not creations developed for the X-Men. "Embarrassingly, I didn’t know what a wolverine was, I’d never heard of such an animal," he admitted on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. "I presumed it was a made up name for the comic book. I’d never read an X-Men comic, I’d never seen a wolverine. We don’t have them in our zoos." Jackman, of course, played Wolverine from 2000-2017.
THE BACHELOR’S CHRIS SOULES PLEADS GUILTY IN FATAL CAR CRASH: More than a year since his April 2017 arrest, Chris Soules entered a new plea in his fatal car crash, E! reports. The former Bachelor entered a written guilty plea to leaving the scene of an accident.
DAVE CHAPPELLE PHOTOBOMBS ENGAGEMENT SHOOT: An Ohio got an unexpected guest in their engagement shoot when comedian Dave Chappelle showed up and photobombed them. When photographer Jaycee Brammer shared the image, it went viral. Brammer wrote on social media that he made Thomas Saunders and Emily Eldridge’s day with his humor and kindness. "I think it’s safe to say Emily Tommy have the coolest engagement photos EVER," Brammer wrote.
TAMERA MOWRY PAYS TRIBUTE TO NIECE: Bittersweet. As Tamera Mowry mourns the loss of her niece Alaina Housley in the mass shooting in Thousand Oaks, she is also celebrating her son Aden’s birthday. She honored them both on Instagram, captioning a photo of them together: "Happy 6th birthday Aden! Alaina was excited to come to your birthday party. But as you said buddy, ‘She lives in your heart now.’ We love you." Housley was 18 and one of more than a dozen victims gunned down at the Borderline Bar & Grill on November 7th.
VANESSA MARCIL OPENS UP ABOUT STRUGGLES WITH BRIAN AUSTIN GREEN: General Hospital alum Vanessa Marcil, 50, is claiming on Instagram that her ex Brian Austin Green, 45, "cut out" their 16-year-old son Kassius from his life with Megan Fox. She wrote: "12 years ago I was served legal papers and then spent 8 years defending myself and my son in custody court in response to his father & his stepmother trying to get full custody (that means I would have seen my son four days a month) and then asking me to pay them child support. They lost that case & a civil case asking me for 200,000." Five years ago, she continues, they cut him out of their lives, and he’s never met his half-brother Journey River, and never sees his other two half-sibs Bodhi Ransom and Noah Shannon. "Kass has been truly heartbroken since being cut out of his other families lives with NO explanation," she concluded. "Let’s do better for our kids. Let’s share our stories."
Nicole Kidman has been feeling extra chatty lately! After opening up about her struggles co-parenting with her ex Tom Cruise, the Oscar-winner is now discussing her spiritual side with Allure magazine.
"I’m spiritual in that I absolutely believe in God," she told the outlet before admitting that the concept of becoming a nun was intriguing to her. "I loved the idea of being a nun. Obviously, I did not choose to go that path, but I was very drawn to it."
Despite abandoning the nunnery for the limelight, she says she feels "far more niche" than her status would suggest.
"I don’t see myself as a celebrity. I’m not a celebrity. I’m not a movie star. I feel like I’m an actor," she says. "Beyoncé is a celebrity. And that’s a much bigger thing."
The 51-year-old also dished on her life with husband Keith Urban, and her neighbor and co-star (Big Little Lies) Reese Witherspoon.
"We’re Australian, both of us, so water is very therapeutic," Kidman says of her 51-year-old husband. "We have a beach house, and we will get up in the morning before we have breakfast, and we’ll go in the ocean. Reese is our next-door neighbor. Reese will be going, ‘What are you doing in the water, you lovebirds?’ She’ll tease us because she rarely goes in the ocean. ‘You crazy Australian kids.’"
Margot Robbie is a stunner, and she says that becoming "ugly" for the first time changed her life. Robbie graces the December cover of Harper’s Bazaar, and inside, she opens up about what it was like to play Queen Elizabeth I.
Robbie plays the Queen in the upcoming Mary Queen of Scots (out December 7th). To embody the Queen, who was scarred by smallpox as a young woman, Robbie had to spend hours in hair and makeup. She says the ensuing transformation changed the way everyone—even people who knew her—treated her.
"I'd say, 'Hey, how's your weekend?' But they wouldn't even get close to me," she says. "It was very alienating. And I felt very lonely. It was an interesting social experiment."
Her colleague Saorise Ronan (she plays Queen Mary) was impressed. "Margot is a very, very good actor who takes her work incredibly seriously. I don't think looks even factor into it. Even when she has a glamorous role, she's got this brilliant, strong presence, and part of that is because she's a very sincere and authentic person. She's very open."
Robbie, of course, is more than just a pretty face. In 2014, she founded LuckyChap Entertainment with the goal of finding better roles for herself, and other women.
"When we set out to create our company, it was sort of a new idea, but then in response to the #MeToo conversation it was all that anyone was talking about. People were like, 'Why don't we make movies for women?'" she says of how times have changed. "Uh, what a revelation, right?"
Rob Kardashian is headed to court in a bid to lower his monthly $20,000 payments in child support to Blac Chyna, according to court documents obtained by The Blast. In addition, Kardashian wants Chyna to actually pay him, claiming she has way more disposable income than he does these days. But according to TMZ, there’s more to it.
The latest move was part of his plan to get Chyna to drop domestic violence charges against him that would have cost him custody of Dream, sources tell TMZ. The only reason he agreed to the hefty payment in September of 2017, is because she agreed to drop the charges that he hit, shoved and pushed her to the ground during their relationship in exchange.
Now that enough time has passed, sources tell TMZ he feels comfortable asking not only for a reduction in his own payment, but for her to pay him. Meanwhile, Chyna’s lawyer Lisa Bloom says she has been expecting this, and that contrary to his claims, he’s rolling in dough.
Bloom tells TMZ: "Rob has deliberately retreated from social media to suppress his income in order to reduce support. What kind of father plays games with supporting his own baby?"
